Its true, I am pretty hard-headed when it come to certain things. I will ignore the facts if I don't want them be true. Sometimes it goes my way. But as all of us runners know, sometimes its doesn't.
Injuries are things that we'd like to avoid. I try to do everything I am suppose to; Stretch, don't increase miles too quickly, ice, listen to your body, etc etc. For the most part, I am injury free. Sometimes my hamstring will be tight or my IT band will bother me but nothing that actually stopped me from running.
I never wrote about this because I never really thought too much off it. For the past couple of run on the treadmill have caused me some ankle pains. I would run and be fine and dandy but when I would stop - ow. Ow ow ow. Awkwardly I would start to run again and it would slowly go away.
I've had a lot of good runs lately so I guess today I was finally due for a bad one. Once I was running I started to feel my stomach tell me that it would appreciate it if I would stop. That changed into feeling like I swallowed a large pill and it was stuck in my throat. Was I going to throw up? Was I going to burp? Then the ankle pain started and over came me. I couldn't go on. I wanted to so badly...I had barley started to run. But I swallowed my pride and desire to have an awesome run, and slowed down to a walk. My 7 miler turned into 2 ish miles - most of which were walking. Sigh. Oh well. To make up for a craptastic run I did some weight machines - gimping from machine to machine. More than anything I was close to tears because of the pain, not because I couldn't run. I know I will be fine, it just hurt so freaking bad!!
The GOOD news is that after icing both ankles they aren't hurting all that much any more. Yeah! But that doesn't mean too much since every other time it wouldn't hurt after my run.
Once again...I LOTHE the treadmill!

That stinks girl! Bad runs are no fun! Hoping that your ankle pain is just a fluke! Ice, ice baby!! :)
smart to stop. live to run another day! hang in there
also, i am around if you want me to punch the treamill in the face. you rock
Let's run the treadmill over with a truck.
Feel better soon!
Sorry about your IT band giving you attitude:( Take care of yourself!! BTW, I just tagged you because you are so darn gorgeous:)
Aw, sorry about that ankle pain & tummy trouble. It sucks having to stop a run when you were just getting warmed up. I hope everything feels okay for a redemption run soon!
I'm reading this thinking, do I really have to do a tempo run on the treadmill today? I've been having problems with my foot. Should I ice it or skip a run? I haven't had this kind of pain in this part of my foot before and I hate to say it but I think it's from a pair of heels I wore to work Tues :(
Runners' brain is hard to fight through. I'm thinking is most likely a tendon/ligament issue. Better to be smart and live to run another day and avoid disaster. Hope you're feeling better!
I think the placement of the treadmill is muy importante. In front of a TV with satellite, and a fan blowing directly on you. :)
I hate not being able to run, not because I don't want to but because my body doesn't cooperate. Good luck.
Yikes! Be careful!!!
be careful sweets! im glad your okay but keep an eye on them!!!
Aw that stinks! Sorry about the bad run, I definitely hope it goes away before the next run. Maybe take a few days off?
Sorry about the bad run :( They can't all be good, but at least you know the majority are! Be careful on your ankle.
Ugh, I;ve been dealing with a weird ankle pain myself. I broke mine twice, and lately it's bugging me. I feel like I finally got over my hamstring injury, so I really don't one a new one!
You should see if you can find a pool to run in for a few runs to unweight yourself and give your ankle a chance to heal up:) A treadmill in the water is much more fun than a treadmill on land~good luck!
That stinks! My podiatrist told me that the treadmill is pretty bad for your feet b/c of the repetitive motion. Maybe changing up the incline could help?
